Main Review of the Milwaukee Random Orbit Sander
This is of course a good brand and the quality of Milwaukee tools is always high. The 5 year warranty is enough proof of that.
So as you can see this one certainly does the job. It costs in and around $80 so at the average price point for one of these types of sanders. Let’s quickly see the main specification for those that like the technical details:
Comfort and Use
This tool feels well balanced in the hand, and is very comfortable to use. When we were checking this one out, you almost forgot that you were using it. Quite often with sanders your arms and hands can notice slight pains, but not with this one. It had a really nice feel to it. You will not experience any fatigue with this one as there is only a minimal amount of vibration.
Power and Speeds
The motor in this one is powerful and there is a nice choice of available speeds all controlled with a dial. There is also a soft start-up and shut down so no need to worry about sticking or jarring. When in use, your hand does not cover the air vents. Because of that the chances of over heating are greatly reduced.
This one comes with a bag and the connection for this actually works. It is quick and easy to fit. If you plan on hooking this up to some type of vacuum system, then the connection does a very tight and solid job of that.
Other Important Features
- There is a good length cord (8 feet) on this one so that should reduce how often you may need an extension lead.
- It is quiet for a sander
- Produces a very nice swirl free finish
Proper Grits To Use
Course – grit sizes 60-80 – ideal for sanding on rougher surfaces, for fast stock removal and stripping of rusted or painted surfaces
Medium – grit sizes 100-120 – for intermediate work such as the removal of minor surface imperfections
Fine – grit sizes 150, 180 and 220 – for all finishing work prior to sealing, priming or staining
Verdict of the 6034-21
One reviewer had this to say,
This sander does a great job of removing planer marks and general sanding of fairly large surfaces. This thing is durable…. I have dropped it off my work bench several times and even once it made it to the bottom of the stairs with no harm done.
We think that this is overall a very good product. It will work well as a heavy duty tool, for frequent use and also for finer woodworking. The pads we found last a long time and compared to other sanders, this one is relatively quiet.
